Level I /CPPT

Orientation.
Level I training, normally done at the unit level, provides new senior members with information required for active membership in CAP. This level consists of the Orientation Course and Cadet Protection Program Training (CPPT) which is mandatory before senior members work with cadets. Shortly after joining CAP, the member receives a collection of pamphlets and manuals from the CAP Bookstore that make up the senior member handbook. Members should study these materials prior to attending a Level I Orientation Course if possible. The Level I Orientation Course provides basic information about the CAP program including the mission and purpose, organization, uniforms, customs and courtesies, core values and other information to help the new member learn about CAP. It consists of video and instructor presentations. Chapter 3 of CAP Regulation 50-17, CAP Senior Member Training Program, provides details on Level I training.

Cadet Protection Program Training Video
A new edition of the Cadet Protection Program Training video has been mailed. The Revision 2, 2000 edition was mailed to every active CAP unit. This instructional video is used as part of the overall cadet protection program training. The new tape should be inserted in the Cadet Protection Program Training binder, retaining the instructor guide and parent leader guide. The 1997 version of the video tape should be removed and destroyed. If you have any questions about the cadet protection program please contact the Professional Development Office at: (334)-953-7584 or email mwilkinson@capnhq.gov.
